stick with the party grill - as an onwer/user of both I much prefer the party grill. we bought the safari chef as an 'upgrade' but think the party grill is the better of the two.
ok so the party grill has a smaller cooking surface but you can griddle bacon, sausage and mushrooms whilst frying an egg all at the same time.
the safari chef, whilst it has a slightly larger cooking surface, has a reversible cooking plate - the ridged griddle on one side, and the flat frying area on the other - which means you either fry your bacon/sausage etc to be able to fry your egg at the same time, or you wait for the cooking plate to cool enough for you to turn it over, or you use another stove to fry your egg.
the party grill is also more compact and lighter in weight and uses standard campingaz cv type cartridges - so if space is an issue, you only need to take one or two with you, then top up as necessary whilst you are away as these are availale everywhere, even Tesco or Argos!
the safari chef is bulkier and heavier, plus you need to add on the hose, regulator and gas bottle and this all takes up lots of car space.

Seriously don’t bother with the cadac - I have had 3 over the last 15 years 2 larger ones, one is now in a skip, one returned and now the small safari chef 2 which I have just bought and used for a camping holiday and will be returning because it’s not fit for purpose.
So here are my pro’s and cons in case you were wondering!!
Pros and the reasons I had 3 of these.
1. The larger models offered a great variety of cooking options I bought the paella pan and generally used this and the reversible grill plate and large pan support for everything*
2 the larger models were great for a crowd or a big family I never used our trailer tent cooker or kitchen as a result when they actually worked
3 they packed down well and can be used anywhere which we did all year round
Cons
On a butane (camping gaz) set up they just take FOREVER to cook - * (the reason I was using the grill plate and paella pan) you can use propane and would be interested in hearing whether anyone had the same issues and switched and got a better outcome ? The burners just appeared too small and didn’t have enough grunt !
Skottle, and bbq, were an utter waste of time and were a pain in the rear to clean, the non stick Surfaces on grill plate were easy to damage in storing/packing and not very good quality considering the price however, I am advised these elements now come with a cover which appeared to be missing off our models
1. First set up lasted about 8 years - parts failed and you could no longer get them for that model
2. The second set up was just utter pants and did not perform the same as the original set up despite changing burners and everything it just never got up to the right level of heat to actually cook food e.g 25mins to cook 1 pancake!! Which was inedible, we had this system checked several times.
Safari chef 2 - utter rubbish ,ridiculously expensive, same issues - doesn’t get up to an effective heat, food took forever to cook which is frankly dangerous non stick surfaces damaged in storage already despite careful handling impossible to clean unit/accessories. We ended up buying a £20 camping gas bistro ring because it was so hopeless :(. So I am utterly done with cadac - sorry! I cannot believe anybody from this company has ever cooked on their own products!
To compare I have an original camping gaz party grill approx 15 years old which I guess hipsters may refer to as vintage retro! Which the cadac safari chef 2 was supposed to replace just because it’s old and some twat stood on the blue lid and broke it which makes it a little difficult to store. we use it all the time, for smaller camping trips festivals and days on the beach as it packs up small and will continue to based on our experiences. This little stove runs rings around the cadac stuff - the only reason we switched to cadac is that we needed a bigger unit for family use and nobody else at this time made this set up, well they do now and I am hot footing it off to local camping shop to pick up a camping party grill 600 I will update accordingly when in use! If you are looking for something smaller I hear they do a 400 range which is the equivalent of my smaller vintage retro set up - happy camping
