Lidl has a vacuum sealer on offer tomorrow, I was thinking of buying one anyway but not sure if this one is any good. The price certainly is. Has anyone got bought one from them in the past and can give an opinion?

The new Studio catalogue hes the same sealer at the same price £19.99 plus if it is duff you can send it back for free. www.24studio.co.uk Just ordered 1 not got it yet, wait till tomorrow. LOL
I strongly advise anyone thinking of purchasing a vacuum sealer to check the availability and compatibility of additional plastic pouches/rolls, and price for them before getting the machine, as one could end up with a hardly use machine as it could only use expensive and hard to get hold of branded pouches/rolls!!!

According to their website the vacuum sealer can be used with their own brand freezer bags. I would have thought the freezer bags wouldn't be thick enough....but maybe it's me who's thick.
I've actually decided to go with an Andrew James machine now, but it would be interesting to hear feedback on the Lidl one anyway.
The Lidl freezer bags are actually pretty thick compared to other places. I use them all the time but I think the issue is that they are smooth and to get the best out of the vacuum side of things you need them to have some sort of channelled surface.

I don't have a Lidl's machine, but a FoodSaver instead, and make bags out of rolls imported from US via a US-based FoodSaver reseller, as I find them to be cheaper than buying them in the UK.

Please check postage and packing first in case it has gone up, as exchange rate has changed dramatically since I last bought from him - 1 GBP was nearly 2 USD then!!!
He is primarily a reseller for FoodSafer brand products, and I am not 100% certain if the bags/rolls are compatible with other brands of vacuum sealer. Therefore, I would advise you to contact the seller and check it out first.

I had one of those lidl sealers last year although they don't pull much that much air out. Just done an upgrade to this vacuum sealer from fresherpack. Much better, gives a tight seal that lasts.
I'm very impressed with my lidl vacuum sealer - baco do a freezer bag which serve as refills and I'm vacu sealing everything in sight! I don't think I'd want to do without it now. I used it to marinade my chicken last night - it opens the pores in the meat sucking the marinade in - you only have to marinade for 15 minutes if you do it like that.
