My hubby will shop in about four places, Costco, Decathlon (France), our local agricultural suppliers place and French Supermarkets generally!
Piglet, might be worth me going anyway, Reading is the nearest to me, I always remember the pizzas they used to make they were huge.
If I could be a bit cheeky would you mind just checking how much the sleeping bag costs.
Yep no problem, I'm going Friday night and then I'm off to proper home, so it'll be around 9ish by the time I get back to the PC...feel free to bounce this back up Friday night if I don't post - I'm sure I'll remember to look but I might not remember to post!
There are quite a few costco users on the forum it might be worth sticking a separate thread up to see if anyone can remember what they to save you waiting until Friday?
We have two of the costco sleeping bags and found them really good.Cost about £20 at costco or £40 on ebay. They have a built in blow up pillow too which is a nice touch.
The vents are a good idea and they even have pockets inside for your mobile or wallet.
Alternatively if you need a big bag look at carp fishing bags, much bigger than standard camping bags.
Thanks again, looking at both of them on the internet the Nitestar is more of a technical bag oposed to the galaxy, however on price I can get the galaxy £15.00 cheaper than the Nitestar. I guess you pays your money etc
The general school of thought is that your sleeping bag is the second most important piece of kit after the tent and that your budget should be allocated accordingly. Never skimp on your sleeping bag! But having said that the Galaxy is a pretty good sleeping bag anyway so I'll let you off.
I got my Nitestar off Ebay last year btw, brand new, about £22. Think it was a discontinued colour. Might be worth a quick check?

I agree I made a very inexpensive mistake with the £2.99 go outdoors sleeping bags, for the material alone it's not bad and Ok for sleepovers etc, but for the purpose of sleeping out in Britain ...no it is poor value.
I think it would be between the Nitestar XL and the costco bags, unless someone else comes up with a suggestion.
Having been brought up the Yorkshire way I have to have the best quality for nowt!
I have checked ebay, but for the XL it is £39.99 nearly everywhere.
I got the Costco bag for our trip first May bank holiday - it was fantastic - first time I've woken up without a sore back - I reckon thats because I could turn over inside the bag rather than having to turn with the bag....
It was very very warm (too warm, and everyone else was complaining about the cold). I am hoping to get a chance to use it before we go to Italy in the summer as I want to see if the ventilation system 'does what it says on the tin'.
Anyway, for the £20 or whatever it was it is very high quality - but it is also very big and takes up a lot of space in the car.
Are they any good? Iam looking for an XL sleeping bag on another thread but this has just cropped up to confuse more. Are the specs good anyone got one and are Royal any good...........I don't want much do I?
I went to Costco tonight (Bristol) they still have these sleeping bags but the price was missing from the display so I'm no wiser as to how much they are. I'd guess that Christine is right that they are about twenty quid.

You're welcome, I had another quick look and they are huge. Wish I'd gone down this route instead of my Vango Nitestar that proved smaller than advertised.

Christine
Was the Nitestar the XL version?
No. The 450 square version doesn't seem to come in an XL. The other thing is I decided against the Sleep cell as well lol and have now ordered a Snugpak Expedition, mainly because they have an expanding section that unzips. I've tried my husbands and it works for me. The Ebay seller selling the Nitestars has said he's checked them and they are short, so must be a duff batch as they are sold as perfect not seconds. Vango and Nearly New Tents have the same parent company apparently and that's where he get's his stuff. Anyway, nice of them to take a second return from me.
