Trying to work something out here.....any help much appreciated!!

Hubby and I renewing our camping gear/tent etc. We are in favour of buying a seperate utility tent for our kitchen and cooking equipment, like I know many of you do. We won't always use this, but for long weekends when all the kids grace us with their presence we will.

My question is, we will need our electric hook up to run to the fridge in the utility tent obviously! So what happens if we want electric in our tent too? Unplugging the fridge overnight is not an option. Is it possible to get a hook up lead with two leads running out the hook-up? If so, what are thay called (for googling purposes).

I really wish Coleman were still selling the evolva as this would cater for our varying needs ie: 1 child most of the time and three on occasion. Anyone know of another good modular tent system with room for cooking stuff when needed too?

Thanks

Bb.

You can get or make a splitter that goes into the site HU and then run two cables from that i guess that is probably the correct way but i just run a ext from the camper to the utility tent

Just run a common all garden outdoors extension lead. The kind you'd use for outdoor electrics like lawn mowers and such like.

They are designed for the outdoors, so offer some water resistance and usually have a safety circuit breaker. They are also fairly cheap.

Edit: The Evola is a great tent based on a really sound modular design idea. I can't understand why Coleman dropped them, and to my knowledge there is nothing remotely similar in design available today.

As long as your hook up has the circuit breakers & RCD protection, there is no law says you cannot run an extension lead off the main unit to your other tent as AudsleyI suggests.  If you use a caravan supply splitter as Mike suggests, you'd need 2 x EHU boxes with the protection devices in - so that would be really expensive.

I love the look of that three wa y thing..that was exactly what I was thinking about! However, for cost purposes I think I'll stick with the outdoors extension lead for now, mabe invest in that next year.

Now to look for a suitable tent set up! Look out for my next post.

Thanks!!
