Fan heaters are usually the best idea for tents, they're the most efficient way of heating any small space. The only trouble is some people find them a bit noisy.
Pretty much all heaters will have a thermostat on them these days, so you can set it & leave it to turn itself on & off, as well as different power settings to avoid tripping your electrics. & as far as I'm aware, I think ALL heaters have to have safety cut-outs if they're knocked over or vents become blocked. Some swear by the halogen heaters, but I always think they give a very localised output, ie. you have to be in the right place to benefit, & convector heaters are also sworn by with others, but I always think they're not ideal for tents, as most of their heat will be lost as it rises to the top of the tent.
Fan heaters do seem to be the most popular with campers, & they are cheap. That's what I would go for if I had EHU. I'm fortunate enough not to feel the cold though, that may change if I decide to extend my camping season this year however.
