We are trying to get a roof cycle rack for our 07 Santa Fe.  Been looking in Halfords this morning, and it seems that the factory fit roof bars we have (flat/ovalish 3inches) will not fit any of the cycle racks.  Looks like we need to get new bars and rack.

Been looking at the Thule ones, getting the feet and the squarer bars, then getting the premium Halfords own cycle carrier that is on offer at the moment - £89.99 for a twin pack.  The Thule bits come to about £120.

Been googling and also found Mount Blanc ones, not major difference in price.

Any advice anyone??

Have a look at the Roofbox Company. Whenever we have had any queries we have rung them up and they have been extremely knowledgable. Their customer service is excellent. We have just bought bars and bike racks as a package deal and found them to be competitive in price compared to Halfords.

Do the bars you have got have a rubber strip down the centre of the bars?

If so will this pull out to reveal a t track like they have on the thule aero bars

T track adaptor

I have just changed to aero bars and this is how i have to fit my cycle carrier now

No force ten, there is no strip, its just a really wide (3 inches) flatish bar.  We were looking at the thule aero bars in Halfords as they fit the Halfords bike rack, but means starting from scratch with everything.  Still not found any Hyundai equivalent, their website seems to just mention replacing existing bars with Thule ones anyway and they are dearer than you can get elsewhere.

Will do a bit more searching tomorrow and look at the Roofbox Company aswell.  Need to get my act together as we go away in 3 weeks!

These ones?

Is it the width thats the problem?
Mounting holes too close together?

They look like them.  They are about 3 inches wide.  The guys at Halfords let us take a set outside to try them but they didn't fit.  The Halfords dearer range we were looking at could go up to about 2 1/5 inch wide bars, and the Thule box info said the same. The fixing clamp is just not big enough to fit and do up on the existing roof bars.

I know this wasn't your question but thought you might like to know the halfords twin pack premium bike racks are made by Thule. I spoke to someone at Thule last month and was surprised when they told me they were exactly the same apart from the label! Think the model from Thule was the 531 or something like that.

I just bought a set of bars and 2 bike racks from the Roofbox company (see earlier link) for £80 all-in, for my '05 Santa Fe...(if that helps? Probably not...)

Another recommendation for www.roofbox.co.uk. We've bought a fair bit from them over the years and they've always been extremely helpful.

IMO Mont Blanc aren't a patch on Thule. But there are other options. There's a finder on the roofbox webiste where you input your car details and it tells you what your options are. And they do package deals.

Another one her for www.roofbox.co.uk ordered a set of the Thule Aero bars along with roofbox. Great Service and the roofbars look great. Got the aluminium 'T' bar ones.

This is from their search page:

Hope that's allowed!

Thanks everyone, Mr PP has been on the suggested sites looking today, we must get sorted, we go away in just under 3 weeks! Good to know that the Halfords racks are actually made by Thule.  Looks like we will pop down there to get them, and then order the other bits online.

Halfords budget roof bars are Mont Blanc. Identical to the ones i picked from for £20 from towsure.
I think someone bought them used them then returned them.

Bargain for me.

Another option maybe caravanstuff4u ?? something like that sell roofbars that seem to clamp over the top of the side rails, Those may fit your car?

I have seen some extra wide clamps on ebay, Not sure of the dimensions but looked fairly wide compared to standard clamps.

I had a roof mounted bike rack ages back, Rusting away in the shed now. They had 2 bars tha ran front to back with lots of fixing holes, something like that may work?

Something like these.

Did you ever find out the answer to this without replacing the crossbars bars?  I'm also interested in a roof mounted cycle carrier for 2007 Santa Fe
