Hi, we are looking for a camping chair which will take around 30 stone in weight for my father. Ideally it needs to be collapsible for storage.

Many thanks in advance..

I couldnt find any available in the UK, so I imported one from the US.  Not cheap at all, but a reasonable choice.

It seems that nobody in the UK can supply anything close to that strength of chair.

The Royal Commander chair is supposed to be for the larger person as it has extra bars for support underneath. Our friend who is around 23 stone sat on it for an evening in our awning and said it felt very sturdy and safe unlike others he has sat in!

It folds up similar to the umbrella type ones and comes with a bag and doesn't take up too much room under our bed.

We bought the chair recently for around £38 including postage (the cheapest we could find on the net) from www.best-buys.co.uk.

the chair that you recommend has a maximum use rating of 130.kg which is less than 21 stones so is not really suitable for the original poster

http://www.kirkhams.com/products/Alps_Mountaineering_King_Kong_Chair-730-108.html

Takes up to 800lbs apparently over 50st. Alps have quite a few chairs that take just over the 30st mark one taking 450lbs and another taking 500lbs http://www.alpsmountaineering.com/ALPSMountaineeringChairs.htm However its difficult to source them in the uk and usually need to get them from the US.

OH is 24 stone and we have had the Royal Commander chairs for two years now and not a kink in the metal or strain on the material.
So although they state under 21 stone, think the chairs can cope with more than the advised weight.

Good Luck in finding a suitable chair

Best wishes Sam

i'd recommend a carp anglers chair.

They are very very solid.

try the nash bid daddy can't seem to find the rating weight of these but I know for a fact they take more than 30.

expensive, but you can tell its a quality item

pay no attention to the "17% saving" they are all hundred quid pretty much everywhere

We've just bought 2 Carp fishing bed chairs and they were only £30 each, really comfy as well from Go Outdoors, check out their website to see if they do a good deal on the chairs.

Kampa Extravagance ExLarge recliner chair can take upto 150kg, but from personal experiance you may have to swop the couple of riveted bolts after a few uses for some stronger ones. This is not really a problem, and only a few pence each to buy, but ours bent when only taking someone of 140kg weight, although the rest of the chair is perfect for the larger person sizewise and in strength.
