Hi all

I have problems with my air bed going down in the middle of the night, I bought an outwell double flocked exelence last year and no matter how firm it is when you first get you can guarentee by 2am your ass is on the floor. I know they slightly deflate with outside temp dropping but it seems to have got worse the more i use it. I have checked for puntures but found nothing. not sure weather to get another air bed or get a self inflating mat. what are your views on this.

got 2* double gelert beds and both been on 7 trips(one 1 weeker and rest 4/3 and 2 day'ers and both stayed up ok have you tryed using a soapy liquid solution on all plugs to see if there is aire trickling out and while your at it check the bed in the bath tub or better still in a kids padling pool and sit on the bed for a few hours( in the sun as not to look to foolish) checking for leeks. 

I also bought an Outwell Excellent Flocked single airbed earlier this year and having tested it at home thoroughly recommended it to anyone that asked. It was so comfortable.

Unfortunately mine also seems to lose air overnight, not enough to call it deflated but certainly more than one would expect with colder air temperatures at night, and it doesn't re-inflate with the heat of the day either so I can only conclude it has a leak. I usually have to pump it up every evening so that it is hard enough to sleep on. Needless to say I no longer recommend them to anyone.

It is still useable so I am persevering with it (can't be doing with the hassle of sending it back) but if it gets any worse I will dump it and buy a different make.

I believe it could be the valve which doesn't have a screw cap. It just relies on a non-return pressure valve and a push in cap which I don't have much faith in.

My intex airbed needs a small bit of topping up after night 4 I've found, so it really is not good enough to have an airbed deflate overnight to the point where your backside is on the ground.

You might well get alot more peace out of a Self Inflating mat - at least it can't go anywhere!

The coleman double comfort gets so many positive mentions on this forum that if I was in the market for one, I'd get this over the more expensive aerobed. I'd like the aerobed, but too expensive for the dog to chew.
