I have a fabric windbreak with metal poles and guy robes that just dont stand up to our windy weather !!!!

I was thinking about replacing them with wooden poles

Any thought or advice as to were to get some from would be appreiated

I would just get the standard tent poles, the ones that slot into each other with elastic (fibreglass poles) my windbreak has these and is fine in very windy weather. You can get the tent poles at any camping shop. Wood poles do tend to snap.

Places like towsure's and GoOutdoors do spare wooden poles (ones with metal spike tips and metal top caps) just depends on your windbreak of the pole slots are large enough to fit in a wooden pole.

Admittedly,a little heavier but I made a windbreak and  used some of those"crooked-topped"  metal spikes that workmen use to to support that orange netting/tape around their work area...

...and I never have any trouble getting 'em into hard ground!

Not sure how the sizes compare, but toolstation (the ones with the annoying TV advert) sell wooden broom handles.

15/16" diameter, 4' long £0.89 each, their part 59140
1,1/8" diameter, 5' long £1.63 each, their part 30010
 
few minutes whittling the end to a point and I'm sure it will give the same result as a 'proper' windbreak pole
