We've had our Loungers for 3 years and the elastic cord has frayed and snapped. has anyone had this problem after a short time?? being as they are so expensive i expected them to last a bit longer. I know i can replace the elastic cords but it's the principle of it
Hi we have had loads of problems with our La fuma chairs ( although not the recliners the other ones cant remember the name at the moment) We have had 2 sets of 4 replaced all done through their head office .So contact them and email them pictures ,They were so helpful and sorted it all out even though we had owned them for more than 2 years .I know how you feel after spending so much money on them .Good luck and do give it ago. ps we had even bought ours in Holland and didnt have a recipt
We had the same problem with two sets of lafuma recliners - on one set the cords broke after two years light use, the second set broke after a year of light use - lafuma were extremely unhelpful. New cords are expensive and difficult to thread - it's pretty rubbish to be honest for an expensive product - and a shame, as they are comfortable - until the cords go twang!
Our two recliners are at least six years old and the first cord has just recently went.
We probably only use ours for about four weeks in the year, so not sure if this is a good result or not.
I will buy new cords and renew on both recliners over the winter.
They are the best recliners we have ever had.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I think generic bungee cord of the same diameter and colour would do the job, probably is anyway and just branded Lafuma. It's not expensive and easily sourced from T'internet or Fleabay, use the old one to give you the lenghts required.

Teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for a whole weekend.
We have tried various other loungers, cheaper, and none were as good as Lafuma.

I would beg to differ we looked at some lafuma chairs but after comparing them with some Kampa "copies" which were half the price, couldn't see the difference, maybe the lafumas folded up a bit soother , but that was about it and they certainly aren't twice as good.
Ours are now six years old and are used for probably 6-8 weeks a year and aren't showing the slightest bit of wear.
Had ours (three) for five years, now .... used for 6/7 weeks each summer.
One had a snapped cord this year, I just retied it, and it works fine.
Wouldn't swap them for anything ... and I've tried lots (other people's and in shops) ... never found anything close for smoothness, good locking and sheer comfort.

good locking
To be fair whilst ours lock fine you do have to be careful to make sure the arms are clicked down before leaning back. But as I said are they twice as good, most definitely not.
We got a LaFuma recliner for my partner last year. He uses it every day as it is remarkably well designed for people with Parkinson's', being ergonomically correctly, stable, light and robust. He tried the cheaper copies and they just were not so well balanced or smooth. For him, those little differences in quality have a huge impact on his comfort and ability to operate the chair, so we consider it a worthwhile investment.
Given the hardcore daily use the chair gets, the first set of elastics lasted about 6 months, which I thought was fair enough given that the chair is not just employed as leisure furniture. I will remember the tip about bungees though and will see if I can find a comparable bungee cord for the next time.
