hi all,

I am after some ideas, I have just bought the obelink teepee and due to the height (3.5 metres!) I decided to make a 'chandelier' i guess out of reclaimed wood and rope, it has some led lights wrapped around it and the idea is to attach some hooks for lanterns when we are in it. The plan is to have a loop at the top and bottom of the pole so the 'chandelier' can be raised up and down depending what we are doing.

I have a few ideas on how to hang it but I was wondering if anyone might be able to help, it has a metal pole with a removable bung in each end. I guess I could get a hook welded to it but I would rather not weaken the pole with a weld. You can buy the lantern hooks such as this

but i dont think it will have the strength.

any ideas greatly appreciated, I know its a bit nuts but humour me..

Thanks,

vaughny

Dead easy.

Remove bung from either end, drill a hole to enable an 'S' hook of the size you feel reasonable for the job, and hook them through. Now just secure in place with some epoxy filler, and the jobs done. If you keep what ever type of bracket weld etc, near to the ends, it won't make a difference to the strength of the pole. You could also use a screw eye into  piece of dowel pushed inside the tube. The manufacturers weld direct to the tube, so don't really see any problem that way either.

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
