Hi. I'm a little confused. Calor gas in the blue bottles is butane. In the red bottle it's propane. You can also get a wide variety of other "makes" of gases, both butane and propane. These can include things like CampingGaz, which is far more expensive than Calor. But there are also cheaper alternatives which can include things like Flogas, HandyGas, Countrygas etc. The problem with some of these, particularly the "local" ones is getting a replacement if you should need one. This is why I stick to Calor. I can be reasonably sure of getting a cylinder almost anywhere in the UK.
Also, are you asking if you can use butane in your tent, or in your house. Cooking in a tent isn't really recommended because of the danger of fire. It can also lead to fat splashes and the like which could affect the waterproofing. In the house, you would need adequate ventilation as, if the burner isn't properly set up and serviced, it can give off carbon monoxide, which can prove lethal.
