just tried to get heat beads from my local Waitrose in Witney and no luck, so I called head office and they told me that they have been withdrawn from sale, no reason given! Where else can you get them from? Don't want to go online as the postal charges are huge.
Have got cobblestones but keep them for camping, as I use the cobb at home a fair bit! They are too expensive to use twice a week all summer. I think the weber ones are the same, might be able to get those locally from the garden centre.
I have a cobb and find it works just as well with good quality briquettes. It takes 10 and they're ready to cook in about half an hour.
If you're lucky you can sometimes get the cheaper equivalent of cobblestones (just as good though) from places like Home Bargains and B&Ms. Not seen any for a couple of months though.

Mmmmmm not good. I was planning on going to Waitrose in Witney to get the heat beads for our first camping trip this year on the 30th. Let me know if you find any in the area. Thanks
Thanks all, will try the Range as there's one in Swindon. I looked online, and the prices are not too bad - about £15 delivered for the 10kg Weber kind, that's about the same as waitrose's price! Debmichael, will post back if I find any. I might also try Millet's farm if we go to the Maize Maze.
The Weber briquettes are available from Argos. Never use anything else nowadays. They keep going for ages and we move the Cobb into the tent on cold evenings to keep us warm. No smoke, no smell.

if you do this ^^^ be aware that when using my cobb at home (outside back door) it sets off the carbon monoxide alarm that is in my living room at the front of the house, at least 2 closed doors and a large kitchen, dining room and hallway away from the cobb cooker....it is odourless, colourless and deadly.. please take care if you are going to carry on doing this, get a carbon monoxide detector, better safe than dead....

No never use a bbq in a tent .I was only reading this morn in a magazine at doctors about a couple who did that and nearly died of carbon monoxide poisoning!!

I'd better say that when we have the Cobb in the tent the main door is still open so we can watch the world go by. We don't have a SIG and the Cobb goes outside before we close up for the night. Sorry if I may have given anyone a wrong idea. We also have a sailing cruiser and are very aware of the possibility of carbon monoxide in enclosed spaces.
Thanks for pointing out the dangerous aspects of my original post.
