Hi, we're completely new to camping; bought the tent and most of the essentials       (i think!)  beds, sleeping bags, EHU, cooker, coolbox, lamps etc and we're off for our first go next weekend!  Just looking for some advice on what other items we may need from you guys in the know!

Our camping gear is just for camping, if that makes sense! ie, we don't use the saucepans, cutlery etc at home. We keep it all in plastic storage crates so theoretically every time we go, everything is in the crates! The checklist above is quite a good one.

Thanks for the list Mike. Yes, we've had two practice runs with the tent in the garden so hopefully we'll be OK - fingers crossed!

Thanks Mark - makes perfect sense to me! Great idea.

chrissy, if I read your list properly you have more gear than we normally use already - amd we have been camping nearly 30 years

couple of items I might suggest:
rock pegs and a peg puller, or at least a few spare pegs as most pegs with tents are rubbish (unless you bought French or Dutch)

Washable doormat and/or piece of carpet runner to put over tarp/carpet where you come into the tent - can keep wet shoes on it too and the rest of the tent stays clean

If you dont have a bin then a roll of swing bin liners with a reusable plastic clip (like Lakeland sell) is helpful too

The standard ukcs list contains neither Wine or Single Malt Whisky - both significant ommisions in my view. If you do drink some nice quality plastic glasses, or risk glass ones, is a nice indulgance
