Hi All,
After spending lots over the years on airbeds and with the annoyance of our current ones only lasting one trip i'm wondering if it's time I converted to self inflating matresses.
I've always liked the airbeds (Coleman Double Comfort) but i'm getting fed up of having to replace them. Are SIM's the way forward? Are they comfy enough for someone used to sleeping on an airbed?
Alpkit are doing a family deal on their new SIMs 2 x Adults and 2 x Childs for £100, is this a good deal and has anyone used these since they replaced the fat/slim airics?
Really need to choose soon as we're going away in 9 sleeps.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.
we used rubber and canvas lilo style air beds for years and recently went over to self inflaters - have to admit the lilos lasted many many years and were still fine when we gave them away - are oy udoing something to damage the ones you have ?
we started with 5cm self inflaters and they were ok - well I was fine but my wife felt them too firm
we then went to 10cm and these are very good. I can have mine firm and my wife has hers squishy
other advantages are no cold/damp feeling and no pump to use or take
wouldnt go back now, these are just too convenient and comfy - suggest you really need to try some thicker ones and see what you think
our young kids inherited the 5cm and love them - as an asult size they fill the sleeping pod and make the whole floor comfy as a play area. The 10cm ones are too thick for that
Sorry ours arent Alpkit though, 5cm Decathlon (£18 ea) and 10cm Skandika from Amazon (£34 ea)
I was converted to Fat Airics a couple of years back from mattresses that went down in the night. I think they are much more comfortable personally and so does my 65 year old mum. We tried double height mattresses, single height, cheap, expensive but the airics beat the lot.
Does that help?
