hi we are due to sail to france via st malo on wednesday and have realised we will need to take a roof box as well as a trailer. the problem is we booked the crossing with only a trailer, so do we need to ring up or just turn up on the day and sort it then? thanks in advance
You might want to call the ferry company and check if there is any height restriction. Can't see any other issues though - trailers are extra because it's an extra car space you need. Roof boxes make no difference - just the height.
I've seen people take the roof box off and put it on top of the trailer to keep the cost down when on the ferry!! seems alot of hassle to me we used to pay the extra for the additional height!
If the overall height is more than 1.83m then Brittany ferries may charge you,if you ring up they definately will charge you.The extra height means that your vehicle won't fit on the upper car deck and if the ferry is full you may have a problem.

A few years ago turned up with an undeclared roofbox and due to the school holidays ferry was full, which did not even give us have the option of paying extra. They actually sent us out of the queue! Spent 20 very sweaty moments getting roofbox onto top of trailer. Not the best start to the holiday as we nearly missed our sailing!
My advice either check in advance or get it on top of the trailer.
thanks for the replies, phoned the ferry people but they said we have to ring eurocamp independent as we booked through them and they don't open sundays so will try tomorrow and hopefully sort it or hubby may have to play with the trailer!
