Hi - recently spent several days in Norfolk - weather was not at it's best and a strong wind persisted for 4 days and nights. We were using a Porch Awning (Dorema Toronto) which had in the past proved to be watertight and reliable - we used a storm strap across the front of the awning which worked well. On this occassion the wind was blowing down the side of the caravan where the awning butted up to the caravan wall. This caused the pole, which was tied to the pad that butts up to the caravan, to move away from the caravan wall a bit. When it rained, some water got in because of the gap caused by the pole moving. This was despite the awning being well pegged down.

I thought about what I could do in the future if this happened again -  perhaps something like using one the large pegs used to secure storm straps. You could knock one of these in against the pole which hopefully would prevent it from moving.

Anyone got any other ideas/tips? Would appreciate your comments.

Thanks, Tony

Not sure when you were in Norfolk but if you had the storm that we had last week in Suffolk... I'm surprised that you were not washed away. Last time I saw rain like that was around the Italian Lakes.

I don't know what pegs you are using but I have found that the yellow plastic pegs seem to hang on pretty well; that is until the ground becomes water-logged
