Hello just about to embark on two weeks in France, went to buy new Calor 4.5kg bottle to see us through but it weighed the same as the one I was going to buy.  Don't want to take 2 due to weight so thought I could buy a camping gas adaptor here and if my bottle runs out buy camping gas there.  Is there a specific/exclusive adaptor for camping gas?

Camping gaz have their own regulator, which you will be able buy in France or any good camping/caravan shop in the UK. Unforunately Camping gaz is more expensive to buy than calor gas, even in France.

the camping gaz regulators here are £5.00 in France they are about £20.00, so if your thinking of doing it take the regulator with you. Personally we also take 2 full Calor Bottles on on the cooker and one on the Cadac. if you are only cooking 1 full bottle should do you fine for 2 weeks, unless you drink loads of tea or are planning on cooking loads!

This is the regulator you need for Campingaz 901 / 904 / 907 cylinders.

This picture shows what the cylinder connection looks like:

it really depends on the regulator you use now i still use the old screw on calor butane reg it fits alot of the foreign bottles except spain n portugal. you can an adaptor for camping gas to the left hand thread used onthis type of reg. cost pence. i have a repsol adaptor for spanish to camping then camping to old calor. works for me. bes. were doing these regs for 6 quid for 3 earlier this year. i use butane.

I assume you are Tenting or trailor tenting? around the coller of your 4.5kg bottle is an aluminium plate & the empty bottle weight is stamped on it. weigh the bottle & deduct the bottle weight this will leave you with the weight of gas left.

a camping gas 907 refill will cost €19-20  but you will need to buy the cylinder if you do not have one to exchange

4kg of gas should be more than ample for a 2 week holiday though
