Well I've finally bitten the bullet & have booked our 1st family camping trip over the Aug bank hol weekend. For this trip, we will borrow a friend's tent & equipment, before buying our own tent.
However, I would like to buy an airbed, but not sure which one to get. Would like a queen airbed as we have a king size bed at home & a double airbed would be far too small in comparison!
I have a bad back, so would need a decent one. Have seen that there are the slightly higher raised ones now.
You will need to check the size of the bedroom pod before buying an air bed. Many of them are only 140cm wide which would mean having to buy a double bed which is 137cm wide.
Our Khyam Ontario 8 can take 8 x 75cm wide beds but Khyam seem to be the exception rather than the norm for making spacious bedroom pods. I think Sunncamp are also quite generous. Some makes only allow 120cm for a double bedroom pod!!!
Many manufacturers base their bedroom pod sizes on mats which are usually 50cm - 60cm wide rather than airbeds which are about 75cm.
We have the Intex double height air bed.It fits in the Monatana bed pod just right. It does not fit in the Nebraska pod and is a good job the pod has a divider. My friend has the Vango Amazon 600 and it just squashes in the pod.
Which tent have you got?
We have an aerobed explorer and find it really good especially inflating it with the wireless pump it was £70 out of season from amazon, I will be getting another double and a single throughout winter, I also recomend outwell tents I have a Vermont xl but recommend the Montana 6 as a good starter as you can get an extent ion for it if you like? Just visit the aerobed and outwell websites there pretty good.
Thanks everyone, not sure what tent my friend has but I'm looking at buying the Eurotent Buckingham 8 - will give us plenty of space as a family of 4 with 2 under 6's. Main bedroom pod huge, so plenty of space for queen airbed.
We have an aerobed double active and also the aero bed double height one - both are fab and we have great nights sleep on them.
They stay up, and are nice and firm but not too hard and you don't end up rolling into each other in the middle. The double height one might not fit into all bedroom pods though - depends on the size, design of the tent and angle of roof.
