Be careful with the Duuo, it is already a tall trailer with quite a narrow wheelbase, adding extra height could easily make it unstable.

Hi moppetsdad

How did you fix the upright parts to your trailer?

 Hi TB

The whole thing is made up as follows     First off I cut 8 lengths of 1 inch square tube  about 3 inches long,   then welded them together in pairs side by side,  after that I fix them to the trailer by drilling through from inside the trailer and tapping the holes in the squares and bolting them to the trailer with a strip of metal on the inside the trailer that was epoxided on to act as reinforceing .

Part two!   I then cut 4 pieces 8" long and here comes the clever bit  I had an old wheel nut spider that I cut up and used the 4 legs ie round steel that fitted into the 8" bits then welded them together,  put them into the bits fitted to the trailer and mark where they poked out the bottom then drill holes in the round bits to take an "R" clip.

Then makeing sure the   "R" clips are in place I then welded a length of 1" tube across each pair of uprights, a couple af coats of paint and job done!!

Fix roof box to the cross bars   Load up  Go  camping

The reason for doing it that way is you can just pull the "R" clips out and lift the box off.

Hope that is clear  , if not just ask.

Thanks moppetsdad

I think those are the most complete instructions I've ever seen.

Unfortunately my own DIY skills don't extend as far as welding.

I think I might just settle for extending the height using some ply and leave the bikes on the roof of the car.

Cheers

Colin
