Hi all, new to the site and also new to camping. My partner and I have always had a real interest in camping, but previous partners weren't so keen!! So now we're together we took an unused 5 year old pro-action 6 berth tent for a 1 nighter. It was brilliant, but the tent was rubbish (Poor stitching and poor zip)!!! Between us we have 4 children ages 3,4,5 and 14 (The 14 yr old will get her own 2 man tent for her and a pal, teens huh?!?!?) So looking for a good sized 6-8 berth. All the kids will sleep in the same compartment, but as the boy gets older will want his own room. We've looked and it's a nightmare.......our budget is between 150.00 to 250.00.......cany anyone please advise.........Many thanks
weve got a gelert albury 8...which we paid £199 for...theres 7 of us and i must admit i love it...was pouring down on saturday when we were camping in the garden and we didnt even feel one drip of rain in the tent :0)
Many thanks for your replies, looking into all the above......Question for you beefysmum....can you make the Khyam Ontario into 2 bedrooms as well as the 3......? Thanks
B+Q have the Gelert Horizon 8 for £225 http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=10787637&fh_view_size=150&fh_start_index=0&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB&fh_search=gelert&fh_eds=ß&fh_refview=search&ts=1280478121376&isSearch=true
Anna, the tents looks great, Have just looked at the B&Q site, and it's there for £224 + £15.00 delivery...........I have managed to find the 2010 version for £235.00 at World Of Camping......Could be a winner!!!.......Many thanks....
Finally went with the Gelert Horizon 8 2010.......also bought the porch and footprint for a total cost of £340.00...Very happy so far......I shall post a review on how we found the tent after our first use....Many thanks for all your advice.....Watch this space!!!
It has 2 x 2 berth bedroom pods and 1 x 4 berth pod which can be divided with a curtain.
The Ontario 8 is a genuine 8 berth and can accommodate 8 x 75cm wide airbeds - a lot of other manufacturer's base their bedroom pod sizes on mats and they areoften only 140cm wide - just something to be aware of!!

Lots of people seem to like this tent a lot so I'm sure you'll love it ... time to get garden camping methinks to check it out properly
You can get the Vango Icarus 600 together with foot print and extension for that money if you look around a bit. It can be pitched by one person in about 20 mins has a good amount of room and you can stand up in it!!

Have a look at the free ads, loads of tents used once or twice for sale, you get what you pay for with tents, so you should get some thing second hand at a good price that you may not afford new?!
