Haven't been camping in a long while. I have found a campingaz lantern lurking, but can't remember how to light it!!

I have some spare mantels but managed to turn the first one into a fireball (possibly becuase I had the gas on too high?)

As far as I remember you place the mantle round the bit you light. Light it and it should turn into a white fireball. Then the next time you just turn on the gas as normal and light the mantle again. You dont need a new mantle each time you light it though. I've had the same mantles in my two for 3 seasons now.

Another little tip - we bought one of those lighter thingys that has the free fuel attached in poundland. Its for lighting barbeques etc and its absolutely perfect for lighting our lanterns without losing the hair on the back of our hands.

I think we've all been there with the new mantle. As for lighting, I use some long cooks matches. Not the regular sort - longer than that.
