Whatever you choose, 12v or inverter you wont get the same performance as you will get from a hairdryer used from a 240v supply. The inverters will give you around 10mins use on the average inverter before needing time to re-power themselves, using a domestic type dryer of around 1kw, and most modern hairdryers take a lot more power than that!
The 12v ones are quite slow at drying due to alack of wattage, and likewise will soon flatten the battery. After trying several of these, and using quite a few different inverters on Hireboats for rivercruising, i find the best way is to let hair dry naturally then style with gas powered straightners or hotbrush. it just takes a bit more planning timewise when you need to wash and style your hair, and theres no EHU available.
