Anyone recommend a good bike rack for a discovery that can handle at least 3 (maybe 4) bikes whilst towing a caravan? Don't want to put kids bikes in new (to us) van if we can help it, and would prefer some sort of rear mounted rack but will consider roof if not massive difference to mpg

We've got these. Had no problems in 3 years. I'd give them a call.

We have one of these witter racks.  You have a plate fixed to your towing bracket and the bike rack bit simply clicks into place in a couple of seconds.  It can carry up to 4 bikes and is angled out beyond the spare wheel on our disco.  If you have one of the newer discos you won't need the one with the angle.  We have used it whilst towing our van with no problems.

Cheers - it's a late series 2 so would need the offset bar. Does this cause problems if turning tight? Do the bikes foul the van at all?

We have only tried it with two bikes so far, but I can see any problem as long as they clear the jockey wheel handle.  We do have a long A-frame though.  The bikes are raised quite high so are out of the way.  The bikes we have used with it are kids bikes, but there is a lot of clearance and no danger of fouling our van even with adult bikes.

Cheers - I'll try that route first and if that fails, go for the roof option

Can anyone advise if the bike rack for behind the car is available to use with a detachable tow bar? As we would prefer this type for easier access?

Cheers Ali & John
