I'm about to head off for the weekend and on checking my gas equipment (Calor Gas 4.5kg Butane + LR2108 regulator) found that the washer on the regulator is a bit worn. Now, it's a while since I've used them and I have a couple of questions:
1. Are replacement washers easily obtainable - i.e. at DIY stores?
2. The black cap on the cylinder has an integral washer. When removing the black cap to attach the regulator, does this washer need to be part of the connection or is only the regulator's washer required (apologies - I should know, but can't remember)?
This might answer your question but it's a bit ambiguous. I would imagine only one washer inside the regulator nut is necessary (long time since I used one)

Thanks for the reply. I too read that article and, like you say, found it a bit ambiguous. think you're probably correct that the one washer is needed - otherwise, the connection's a bit tight.
Will the washer in the black cap fit the regulator? If so you could use that one. The black cap is just a dust protector. I don't know why it should have a washer in it.
I always thought that if any part of a regulator was worn it was better to get a new one... They're not expensive either, so maybe that would be better than time spent trying to fix it!
If it helps at all I have read before that the washer inside the cap should not be used - can't recall why - but in any case they are readily available on ebay or in good hardware stores. They are normally called caravan gas washers or something similar, and are very cheap. I agree, no need to replace an otherwise working regulator.
A quick search on ebay shows a pack of 5 for £1.99 with free delivery - that's the ones we bought last year.
Hope that helps :)
