Hi all,

Apologies if I have put this in the wrong place but can anybody advise me how easy it is to repair a hole on this tent, I have purchased this tent of ebay and noticed that there is a tiny hole about 2mm across which I can see daylight through. I have got the repair kit.

Also can anybody recommend any good tent cleaning spray for removing mildue and dirt etc? and getting rid of nasty odours?

And finally I have purchased a porch for the above tent but have no idea how to erect it as no instructions were supplied, I have been on the Gelert website but to no avail.

Thanks in advance

Tone

Okay , for the repair , forget the repair kit, get some tenacious tape. its clear and is ideal for the job , just like sticking on a plaster .

Mildew, if its the inner tent(bedrooms) you can wash these in the machine , cool quickwash cycle.

Spot treat beforehand with a drop of bleach, or dettox mould and mildew remover spray from any supermarket , or astonish mould mildew remover spray (poundland )Give it a second rinse to ensure all residue is removed.

if its the outer tent , not much you can do here, I wouldnt advise any detergents as they could affect the waterproofing . Erect the tent, give it a good hose down and let to dry out in the sun .
Some people suggest using a solution of milton( baby bottle steriliser fuid ) but no idea if its safe to do this on the outer tent or how it affects the waterproofing .
As for the porch, assemble the poles ,thread through the porch sleeves . insert the pins in the bottom of poles , you should now have a freestanding arch.

place it against the side of the tent, then there is a long flap of material that goes over the roof of the tent , and guylines that you peg down on the other side of the tent . You may have clips to attach the porch on to the tent poles too. then peg the porch down to the ground .

Just used tenacious tape to repair a small tear in our canopy and I was amazed! The repair is almost invisible and waterproof. thanks to this site or we would have never known how good it was!

Thanks for that Debbie, unfortunately the dirt and mildue is on the interior roof of the main tent. Any advice about getting rid of the smell? Where can I purchase the tape from any ideas?

Could I use fabreze to get rid of the smell?

Don't use Fabreeze or anything else like that on your tent - it will ruin the waterproofing.

Once you have mildew it is pretty hard to get rid of - some people receommend using Milton sterilising fluid as this can help kill the spores.
Make sure it is well diluted, spray it on and make sure you rinse it off with lots of plain, clean water. Milton is a bleach so may discolour the tent fabric slightly if left fro too long or the solution is too strong.
You may need to reproof the tent afterwards.

Tenacious tape is available from camping stores or places like Towsure.
