Is that the double skillet with the glass lid

I have been using these for over a year now ... love it as much as my Cobb ...indoors and camping ...

Used everyday ... roast joints and veg ... heat pies & pizza's ... part baked rolls ... cheese on toast ... rice ... shepards pie ... and of cause jackets spuds, only yesterday in 45 mins

A favourite when camping: - 3 med size potaoes diced ... 3 sausages cut into 4/5 pieces ... 4 rashers bacon rough cut ... 2 tomatoes cut into 8 pieces ... 6 mushrooms 1/4ed     .....    all slung in with pans locked together and cooked for about 20 mins shaking and flipping now and again  .....  for omelette then 4 beaten eggs, salt and peppered thrown in ..... either re-cover and cooked for about 3 mins then flip and do other side ..... turned out on plate cut in half and eat with french stick ........... or to scrammble pour eggs in a gently mix until cooked

I use them locked together, stacked on top of each other or separate

Strawb ... Stop!!! keep looking ... make four cuts into spud and place in skillet ... with heat up high give 5 mins .. then flip -DONT look .. 5 mins in that side ... turn heat down to med ... and flip every 5 mins ... you will know when cooked as the feel lighter - and don't thud when turned

Thanks for that post Cas54, by the sounds of it I am using it wrong!  I must say I did look in every couple of minutes!!

I'm going to practise in the house with it and try the recipe you gave, sounds very tasty!

When I bought it at the show they had demonstrated it, cooking roast beef and chicken and it looked really great.  Maybe abit of patience is what I need, well thats what the other half keeps telling me.

Strawbs .... did you get the cook book with it ??  ...... I do find cooking on gas far better that my leccy, which is ceramic hob ..... I'm just gonna do dinner

tbs of oil in pan .. (just enough to cover the bottom on pan) and heat, and tilt all round pan ... large carrot & parsnip cut in 2 length and side ways ... 4cm slice of swede cut in 2 ... 3 med spuds, cut into 4 ......... all in together cook uncovered for 5 mins (heat on full) turn veg and cook anoth 5mins ..... turn heat to med .. put top pan on ... give good shake and flip every 10mins till done   ............. ya can have a couple of quick peeks

The first chicken I could on the Cobb took over 3 hours lol ....... the art is let the Cobb / Skillet do the cooking .. NOT you .. have a glass of wine instead lol

Thanks for all that info on the double skillet, Cas54.  I have one which I have used quite a lot (often just as a non-stick saucepan) but it always seems to take a lot longer than the leaflet indicated.  I think that I have been taking their 'use low heat' too literally - will use more heat in future. 

Do you manage to get your meat and potatoes to go brown?  Mine are cooked but hardly ever seem to get to the brown stage.  Probably the higher heat will rectify this.

Hi Wendy

I brown meat before cooking .. with pans open and up quite high, turning very couple if mins ... when all sides done .. lock pans .. reduce heat and leave to do it's own thing (for beef I turn down real real low and cook for couple of hours)

If cooking potatoes with meat .. for last 30/40mins of cooking .. I take meat out .. turn up heat to high .. put veg in and watch and turn to brown all sides .. pop meat back in and turn heat down

I only every use about dessert spoonful of oil (just enough to cover the pan base)

Chips in a tent --- Oil the pan ... cut potaoes into chips ... place in heated (hot) ... some chips will brown straight away ... shuffle, turn for a 3 to 5 mins ... lock the pans and shuffle and flip on med heat .. 15 /20 mins Camping chips

Sausage and 'cube chips' -------- place sausage's in pan on med heat (might need a smidge of oil) ... then cut potaoes into cubes (I keep skin on, saves time) .... give sausages shuffle, .... throw in the potatoes ... keep eye for couple mins shuffleing to mix sausages and pots ... turn heat to med to low and shuffle and peek now and again ... 20 mins sausage and chips ... oops don't forget the milk pan for the bake beans

getting hungry now .... lol

Thanks Cas, that is brilliant.  Have you thought of applying for a job with the double skillet people?  I'll have to bring the skillet indoors and practice before our next trip in the camper.  I think that I am also in too much of a hurry for somethings, but your sausage and chips sounds great. 

Ever thought of doing a cookery book for it?
