i know its been covered before but i have a query regarding using chemicals to clean their cadac. the reason i ask is that i have just used a product called "oven pride" to clean my oven and charcoal bbq racks, and it has brought them up like new!

has anyone ever used this on their cadac, especially on the ridged side of the reversable plate. i was only thinking of a once a year deep clean, but was worried it may damage the non stick coating on it.

just for info, aldi are selling this for £2.99, as opposed to £4.99 in asda.

simon.

We only ever clean our cadac hot plate with hot soapy water and a washing up cloth each time we use it and it's still like new. Save your money and use it to buy a beer to go with the bbq!!

OH cleans it whilst still warm by wiping off all the cooking residue and then pouring plain water on to it and wiping it clean.
He cleans the rest of it with just hot soapy water

We tend to use the flate griddle plate mainly and we only clean it properly in soapy water when we pack away. The rest of the time we use a fancy plastic scraper to remove anything from the plate. On th odd occassion I have used the BBQ grid then I clean this while hand hot and have no problem getting it clean.

To be honest I dont understand why some people say that the Cadac is a pain to clean. we never have a problem.

I have to say cleaning the BBQ grill on the Deluxe is difficult...the other bits are all easy to clean.

I've tried everything for the BBQ grill and it just doesn't come clean but I've made my peace with that...besides, I never wash the grill plate for my Weber (or any other outdoor BBQ for that matter), we let it warm up before we put the meat on and give it a good brush down with one of those steel brushes. And we are all still alive, so now I just give the BBQ grill plate on the Cadac a good wash down with soapy water and pack it away.

BTW: For a normal BBQ grill plate, it's also good to use a raw onion to clean the plate before cooking, but heat it up nicely first. It smells good and it removes the greasy "goo" quite easily.
