I took our new porch/extension this time and i never told them when i booked i saw they charged £3.00 extra per night so i knew if they mentioned it i would just pay it, but the farmer came round evry day and never once mentioned it! Im going to do this each time i book see if i get away with it......or is this just being naughty???

the one thing that you may have to watch is the tent exceding the pitch size the Kalahari 10 is a big tent and if the site has marked pitches it may be a bit big with a front canopy on it

It depends if the total area exceeds the permitted maximum unit size,

The C&C Club maximum unit size allowed is 9m x5m,other sites might have different rules.Best to check at the time of booking.

Without the porch on the tent is 7m x 4m and the Porch is an extra 1.5m on the 4m.

well that should fit on a standard camping and caravan pitch as it is under 9mts long, i would not be happy paying extra for somthing that is attached to the main tent

if any site tried to charge me extra the canopy would be left in the trailer and i would make do with the main tent

I believe in France, with many of their sites marked out with planting and hedging, you can put whatever you want on your pitch without extra charges, you're paying for the pitch, not the tents.

Here, because the sites are charging for the main tent, plus the pup tent, plus the utility tent, the tendancy is to have a massive tent with everything under one roof.

I have a porch but as it's attached to the main tent I consider it part of the main tent. I've not been challenged yet, and if I was I'd probably just take the extension down as it's a luxury not a necessity (for me at least). I'd be annoyed if I was challenged, it's very petty and money grabbing. I understand that fair charges have to be applied in order to stay in business, greed is another thing.

And just to add to that, please don't go around innocently asking site owners if porches are extra - you'll only be giving them ideas.

This would make the tent 5.5m wide and so wouldn't fit on a standard C&CC pitch - you'd need to book, and therefore pay extra for, a jumbo pitch.

Some sites will charge for every little thing they can.

I would recommend you give the tent dimensions, including the porch, when booking and see what each site has to say!
