hi im needing some advise. i purchased a leben emben tent a few weeks ago.  as the weather has been better i decided to erect the tent. i have spend now nearly an hour and am getting nowhere.

instructions say put red marked poles into red sleeve which i have done and i know it should be tight but red marked poles seem to be about an inch and a half too long????

Has anyone else had trouble with this tent????

regards liz

just copied this from another forum after doing a google search

The blurb says it erects flysheet first, so, here goes ...

Picture it as a dome tent with bits (porches) sticking out the side. The central dome has a square footprint, and it basically a pyramid with curved sides. To put a dome tent up you:

- assemble the two longest tent poles - the bits should be connected with elastic to show you which goes with which

- slide the first pole through the sleeve attached to the flysheet (ie outer sheet - the one wth no holes in it). It goes diagonally across the flysheet from corner to corner.

- slot one end of the pole into the eyelet (metal ring) at the end of the flysheet sleeve, then push the pole from the opposite end so it bends dramatically, like a proper half-circle.

- insert the other end of the pole into it's own eyelet - it will be under a lot of tension at this point. You now have a square(ish) flysheet on the floor with a semi-circle pole diagonaly across it.

- insert the other long pole into it's sleeve - corner to corner but crossing the first pole at 90 degrees in the middle.

- When you tension both ends of the second pole the middle dome section should stand up like a pyramid.

- Now put the shorter poles into the bits that stick out from the central dome ie the porches. These will go from side to side as you look straight at the porch. At this point the porches will flop around - they don't take shape until you pull the porch outwards and peg it down to tension it.

- With the flysheet up, walk inside and 'hang' the inner-tent from the frame - there are probably gaps in the sleeves that you inserted the original poles into that expose the poles, and the inner tent will likely have tags and wooden toggles that loop round the pole and fasten on themselves, like doing up an old fashioned duffle-coat.

This is definately one to practice at home first.

I should mention I've never put a Leben whatsit up (ooer, missus!), but the picture looks fairly self-explainatory.

Good luck, and if it doesn't work retire to the beer tent for a few hours then lie on the flat tent, grab ne end, and roll over and over until warm and dry!
