Is there a water carrier with a good tap?

The tap on my collapsible water carrier just dribbles , so have to unscrew the whole top off, pick up the whole carrier up, which can be heavy when it's full, and try to pour it into kettle, water goes everywhere. mare. tried putting the carrier on a small table and holding kettle underneath, which is a little better, but still wish it had a decent tap!

Oh dear would not recommend anyone a collaspible water carrier had many a bad time with them.  Still love the water butt or jerry tap still drips a little but I use one of those JML steps to keep it off the ground and put the washing up bowl under it or sometime just leave it as its usually on grass and not on a ground sheet.

Our 25 litre jerry came from Wilkinsons last year- never drips and tap assembly is robust. We stand it on a folding step stool. I think they were also doing a smaller one (15 litre?) this year. I know our local Wilko has practically no camping stuff left now though and it is showing as not available any more online.

gelert 25 ltire

we have one of those and it sits on its side, where the extra spout is located at the other end from the tap it has a little screw cap that you open to allow air into the top as the water pours out the tap

this stops the glug glug effect that you get with some water containers

We got a big one brought back from the US, we use it in the fridge for instant cold drinks on tap, 2.5 gallon thing with carry handle. No leaks unless you havent put the tap back on right.

We just take a 5 litre mineral water bottle, with the little carry handle.

Its not so heavy it can't be carried or poured out and the amount of water lasts for a day or two before needing to be refilled.

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!!!

Best wishes Sam

Our folding step stool came from Boyes (£3.99). Argos have them for £8.99 (item 855/0143)

This one is brilliant from Clas Olsen. Massive filling opening so it dries out well, easy to fill and when transporting it I fill it with lots of little bits of "stuff". Here

Librasam and Space Cowby - youre both so clever - just like me!!!  Water carriers are just one of the things that 'new' campers thing they 'have' to buy - so glad there is this site to put them right!!!  Nowt wrong with a washed out cola bottle or a 19p bottle water from Asdas to refil.  A lot cheaper too!

We tried buying the water in a 2 litre bottle but couldn't get on with it - it was too heavy and ackward pouring the water into our kettle (its a kettle you put on the hob and you fill it using the spout is on the side).  Not only that but it depends how often you like a cuppa and how far the taps are away from the tent!!!

Plus they can 'back up' as a fire bucket?

Did find though an empy 5 lite Robinsons squash bottle was very good lasted a few years before it accidently got squashed in the shed!

I have to disagree...Platypus water carriers fold to a small size and have a large ziplock opening.  Might cost a bit more but you do get what you pay for...
