Hi All,

Looking at getting a tent carpet (or anything similar but lightweight) to cover the base of my gazebo, but finding it hard to pick which one to go for as they don't often give out actual sizes.

I am looking for one around 4 metre square.  Does anyone know what tent carpet I need to be looking for to get this sort of size, or can you recommend an alternative.

My toots get cold on the tarpaulin in the gazebo, lol.

Any advice or info appreciated,

Trish

Not exactly an instant solution but it would probably be cheaper to get 4 of the cheap Morrisons picnic rugs and sew them together into a 4m square, if you're any good at sewing of course! They aren't 1m square but you could overlap the edges. I'd suggest using the iron on wondaweb stuff but not entirely sure the rugs wouldn't melt!

Ring up these people. There is a chap who works there that seems to know the size of every carpet they stock (and they are not all listed on the web site). He found me one to fit our De Vrijbuiter Dallas 4 in no time at all, now have a nice warm Gelert carpet to keep the feet warm.

We use dust sheets from Wickes, the softer ones mind you. does the biz just fold to size and chuck in the wash when you get home.

I've just bought the Outwell Utah 6 carpet because was in a similar position, and posted the same link you have and was advised about this...link below....it got delivered yesterday. It is L shaped but I have cut the piece off.....and it is edged so won't fray.....and it is as near as damn it to 4m x 4m. I have made mats for the entrances out of the spare piece so 2 birds with the single stone. Well worth the cash can't wait to get it laid on trip next week. It is blue despite what the ad says..!!

I bought the Utah 6 one too. Quite disappointed that it was blue though - our frame tents are green'n'cream  However, at £18.99 including delivery, I've used it anyway.

Why do people need a tarp or a carpet in a dayroom? This always puzzles me. If the gazebo is pitched on hardstanding, then why not I guess but otherwise its just maximising damage to a grass pitch and spoiling it for the next person.

A simple answer to cold feet is to put a pair of socks on, or fleecy crocs. Very cosy!

Afterthought, another possibility would be a breathable groundsheet. The sort which site rules often require caravanners to use in their awnings if they're pitched on grass.

Personal preference is just grass under a tarpaulin/dayroom/gazebo. Any sheet you put down will get wet if it rains. Grass just drains through taking any dirt with it, and helps to keep inside of tent cleaner. Only time I might want something would be on a really muddy pitch where the grass was already gone, and in that case, interlocking foam floor tiles...like these from machinemart http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/anti-fatigue-foam-floor-tiles-pk6 would do the job.

Could probably source them cheaper but theres the tiles which allow the grass to keep growing.

Afraid so Christine  Someone on this forum (think it was Fostermum) mentioned it & put a link on, but that was a couple of months ago.
