Just bought one so will let you know about how good they are after the test drive next week. As regards to cost, find the cheapest price on the net, print off the page and take it to Go Outdoors. They will price match and take off 10%. The cheapest price I found was £123.48 (Cadac Carri Deluxe), so got mine for £111.05 from Go Outdoors.
They are well worth the money. You can cook more or less anything you want on them, meat, jacket potatoes, stir fry, paella, pizza. Lots of options. I love mine!
We have the Cadac Safari Chef and used it for the first time this year. OH was really impressed with it (and he takes some impressing) however we felt it was a little small for our family of 5 hungry heads and so we are going to upgrade to the Cadac Carri Chef Delux for the increased cooking surface area.
There's just my daughter and me, I can see that for a family of four my cadac safari chef would be too small but for us it is perfect. It was my birthday present to me and probably my fave ever piece of camping kit. We used it all the time. Takes seconds to set up and put away, cleans very easily, cooks anything. I love it and having just come back from two caravan club sites (in my folding camper) they would seem to be about the most popular piece of kit on site! Search about for bargains though, i got mine, brand new, from an ebay store for £45. My local camping shop charges £79.99 for the same thing!
Awsome, I have the Carri Chef delux too. It will cook anything. The piezio electric ignition has stopped working after 2 years on mine and a friends has also, the zip on my carry bag broke too quite early on. Now I use a lighter and hold the bag closed!!
I bought one last week when away camping, well I LOVE it, it is easy to clean and seems to cook just about anything. I have used all the bits and bobs now and I think it is the best bit of kit I have bought in ages.
I am looking to get one either today or tomorrow but was wondering how will I do toast as at the moment I use a 2 burner hob with grill but obviously if I am going to be taking the cadac I don't want to have to take the hob and grill (also looking to get a Coleman fold and go).
I can't do without toast either on a morning (can if having a full english) but otherwise that it all I have as for my breakfast.
I toast "burger buns" on mine for my wife, even whilst cooking the burgers. I just throw the sliced bun on the stickproof plain side of the hot plate (with the burgers) and they do nicely!! Try it at home before you pack your excisting hob!!
To Crawshill - My carry bag zip broke after just over a year of use. I e-mailed Cadac last week and explained that I didn't think the bag ever fitted the burner unit that well and applied too much pressure on the zip - they are sending a new bag FOC no questions asked. Very good customer service!
