Bought 2 new bikes last week. We have the easy base and easy bike tow bar mounted carrier. A lock cover secures the easy base to the tow ball. 2 standard plastic coated steel cable combination bike locks for carrying around with us when we go out, or as secondary securing back on the easy base, when not in use.
In addition to all that, I've just added a 2.5m length of 8mm steel chain from B& Q, and One of these... (The chain with the padlock proved too short to be of practical use around the bikes, but will now come in handy to chain the Easybase to the framework of my industrial steel shed!! :-) )
This longer chain and alarm padlock will come in handy (hopefully!!) when parked up outside a French travel lodge next month, and also overnight/unattended on a campsite..... either back on the easy base (which in turn is locked to the towball) or a nice fat chunky tree or similar.
It runs through both bike frames, and the frame of the easybase. (Actually, there may be enough slack to wrap around the towbar too.... I'll look into that!)
The alarm isn't as loud as I envisaged, but should certainly discourage a sustained "attack".
I don't think there's much more we can do now, other than cross our fingers..... and enjoy our return to an old favourite hobby!!!

As already mentioned before, when I went to collect my trailer from Lichfield Trailer Centre, I enquired about trailer security, and was informed don't bother with anything too fancy and expensive, as it is small enough for it to be lifted by 2 or 3 people even when it is fully loaded.
He advised to prevent the hitch from being engaged by using a long padlock, which cost me just over 10 GBP!
Based on the advice from Francis on here, I got a Thatcham approved 12mm motorbike chain, 1.8m long, so that I can secure the trailer via the A frame to the tow bar, to prevent it from being taken away. It is bright green and is a very good visual deterrent.
I used it during my trip to Scotland last year that required me to have an overnight stop at a motel on the way up and back, plus regular pit stops at motorway services, and I still have the trailer.
I secure the spare wheel to the trailer by using a push bike security cable and lock.
