I just bought some cheap LED lights from B&Q that have hooks that should be ideal for camping. Whatever you end up with, I would also recommend head torches e.g. Alpkit Gamma.
We always use EHU so use one of those cheap clip on lights in the tent, We also have a rechargeable LED, it's not bright enough to allow us to read in the tent though. We use it outside or when we just want a dimmer light.
------------- Are you sure you've read the instructions?
If you have EHU then have a look at the Outwell Tauri light. UFOs are very popular, easy to use and give off good light. Campingaz Lumogaz lanterns give off a warm glow in the evening. LED strip lights give a bright, sometimes harsh, light. Wind up lanterns/torches are useful and keep the kids amused! Head torch - great for reading in bed
Rechargeable fluorescent ones...better than LED by miles as provide better spread of light, and more pleasant to read and work by. The Coleman ones are good - I've had mine for 3 or 4 years now. Used it every trip and during 3 power cuts, and recharged it no more than half a dozen times.

These are great for reading by, as they clip onto the book & illuminate your page beautifully, even if the rest of the room's in pitch darkness...
