Before we went away and I was getting bits and bobs for puppy I saw online a dog bed for camping. It was basicaly just like a mini human's camp bed - a collapasable frame with taut canvas across.
It would be great for out puppy for lounging around outside as it ensures he is off that cold floor. We fould our cheeky pup was often sat on one of our chairs od an evening.
Anyone come across one of these? I have tried and tried to seach for it but to no avail

I do remember seeing these in a Webb Ivory/Studio Cards book, but it was a while ago now.
You could try making a padded dog bed instead but make sure that the bottom fabric is waterproof. Advantages here are that you know it will be the right size for your pooch, and it will fit in the car as it's flat.

I like the look of those, but they don't keep any draughts off. I have something called a sof-bed, which has an upstand aboput 4" high on 3 sides, and folds up very small, but I don't think you can get them any more.
I think these look rather good http://www.trovercoats.com/order_trover_wonder_dog_cat_bed.php?idtype=24&idcolor=72

Dog bed
I have this one and I've searched and searched but can't find where I bought it from. It was from the UK though.
Our dog hated it, sat on it for a photo and that was it! It was a lovely idea but he much preferred lying on the grass, I just thought it would be easier for him as he aged, as he loved lying in the garden watching the world go by.
If I find the supplier I bought from I'll come back and post. Sorry I couldn't be of further help.

We bought a £5 folding camping chair for ours, think it was a B and Q one, but a supermarket type chair, you know the ones. Fine for the dog!
Wouldn't be suitable for a huge dog, depends what you have.

The pic of the black lab on the bed is a Cot to trot - we had one - never used the roof canopy though , but puppy chewed it last year. I picked ours off Ebay. This one is on Ebay right now - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dog-Pet-Cat-Elevated-Raised-Bed-Portable-Camping-Large-Cot-Indoor-Outdoor-/201155446611?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Steamers_Cookers_PP&hash=item2ed5cc8753

Dib - I am really pleased that you started this thread. Not sure that I have much advice but we are in the market for a new dog bed for camping and I saw one I really liked a couple of months ago and can't find it again.
It was raised - along the likes of this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-HI-K9-Raised-Dog-Bed-Heavy-Duty-Award-Winning-The-Sporting-Gun-2010-/121434238724?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Steamers_Cookers_PP&var=&hash=item1c460b6f04
But there was an optional extra, called a snuggle sac or something equally twee sounding which was basically a fleece sleeping bag type thing that fitted on the top of it with an opening that looked like it was triple folded fleece stitched so that it had some form and stayed open.
My husband has been going on at me to make a fleece tent type thing to go over the dog's bed for cold weather camping for ages and I thought that this snuggle sac thing would do the trick and could be made v easily - prob with a bit of corset boning in the opening to help it stay open.
I quite like the idea of a raised bed but haven't had one before. I think that they would be better from a wetness point of view - we do a lot of walking, canoeing and the dog likes to swim - I usually hate her stinky bed by the end of the week when we are away.
I was thinking that I could make a cordura covered pad and then two or three of these fleece sac type things so that if it got wet and smelly and it was too cold to dry it I could just put a new one on.
