It's decision time for me at the moment with the sales on! Currently I'm using a Coleman Perfect-Flow stove and I was thinking about switching to a Dual-Fuel for next season for running-cost reasons.
But.... I could get a hose adapter to run it off a Calor bottle, which leads me to the possibility of getting a T connector and a 3-way fridge!
So where do people keep the fridge? I only use the stove outside for safety reasons, but is it ok to leave a fridge outside too?
I'm not sure I want it outside getting rained on, but I also don't want a pilot light inside the tent.
Would the pilot light constantly blow out if I kept it outside of the tent, or is it well protected from wind?
Many thanks for your help. This is a bit of a new venture for me. I'm used to keeping absolutely everything outside! I don't want EHU by the way, so running it on gas is the only option
We have the bulk hose adapter for our Coleman FoldnGo ( see profile pics) but we also have the refill adapter so we can refill the one lb canisters. It gives us the choice of where we locate the 3 way fridge irt to the stove when running purely off gas.
OH also fitted a quick release nozzle to the back of the fridge for easier transport.

If my 3-way fridge is running on gas I keep it in either the porch, under the canopy of my tent or in my kitchen tent, depending on set-up. I don't want it sitting anywhere on a groundsheet so when running on gas I take a piece of wood for it to sit on off the grass...this also helps with levelling it which is essential when the fridge is on gas.
If I'm running it from the EHU I keep it inside the tent in the driest possible place.
I wouldn't like to leave a 3-way outside with no shelter at all. It is an electrical appliance after all and even if it's not being run on electricity at that exact moment I'm sure it wouldn't be good for the wiring to get wet. I don't have the problem of having to put the fridge near the cooker though as I use Camping Gaz 907 bottles and have two so I just use one bottle for each appliance. How about a kitchen tent for both the cooker and fridge if you're running them off one bottle?

So where does your fridge live?
Well, we've used it in the kitchen tent and in the frame tent. The point is we have the choice. This summer we decided to run it of ehu as we'd paid for that anyway and we kept it in the frame tent just for convenience but i have no problems with it being left in the kitchen tent.

Always keep our Coleman 3 way fridge inside on a small table.
Would never consider leaving it outside, although we do have our electric run Campingaz coolbox in the enclosed porch and feed the cable through the cable entry point(we use the coolbox for drinks and the 3 way fridge for food)

I think I'll have to invest in either the extension or awning for our tent. That way I can keep the fridge under that and have the stove completely outside still with one of them on a longer hose. I don't like the idea of a stove being inside any sort of tent. Or I could run the fridge off one bottle and stay with my original idea of switching to a dual fuel stove.
Arrgghhhh decisions!!!
Thanks for the tip of keeping it off the floor - I wouldn't have though of that
Also, why is it essential for it to be completely level when running on gas? Excuse my ignorance, as I said this fridge business is all new to me

There is a reason but for the life of me I can't recall exactly what it is, if indeed I ever knew. What I do know is that most 3-ways don't work properly on gas if they're not level but if they're on electric they can cope with a slight slope. Fact. People constantly post here asking why their fridge isn't working and leveling it up solves the problem 95% of the time.
Also another piece of useful info for a new 3-way fridge owner. If your fridge has been sitting unused in the back of the shed for the last nine months it may well not work on any power source. In this case it's usually because the coolant has settled out and got an airlock in it. The solution is to unplug/disconnect it and turn it upside down for 24 hours, tthen try again.
They are weird things. But useful! Incidentally if you plan taking it abroad in summer go straight for one that can cool to 30'C below ambient rather than the more common 20'C below ambient. Useful in these 30'C+ heatwaves.
When we were away for 2 weeks we left the fridge outside under the canopy and fed the electric cable through the front door and around the inside of the tent and it was fine.
I would not run the fridge inside a sealed area when running on gas because of the fumes - I am sure that I have read somewhere on here about it - could be wrong though.
A cheap and cheerful solution to the need for shelter for the fridge is to use a beach shelter (£5). We put all our cooking and fridge appliances in there and use it as a cooking shelter. It stood up better to the weather last weekend than our new Nevada tent! It acts as a windshield and gives you privacy too. I find it more comfy to sit at the cooker in this way than stand over a proper kitchen. I would quite like to sit down to cook at home... hmm...
My 3-way (ooh, er) only works on gas when it is flat. We also give it a whirl after the winter to check it still works ok. The thing is huge for the actual capacity inside which annoys me somewhat. I wonder if there is a fridge that is more efficient in usable space inside?

I also use a beach shelter as a small " utility " tent if its too windy to put the awning up. The porta potty, water container and suitcase gas stove all fit inside oh and a chair. Also cook in it no probs.
I wouldn't use my Waeco outside but the beach shelter sounds a great idea. I have a pop up tent that I put under one of the beds to keep my transit cover, pole bags etc in. On the last night of a stay, when we have taken the awning down, I always put the fridge in the tent and have never had a problem.
