Hi All
I've just checked the website and the campsite I am heading to tomorrow says that it has exceptionally hard ground. I only have the pegs that came with my Icarus.
I guess a detour to Go Outdoors will be required in the morning. Can anyone suggest what kind of tent pegs I would need for this kind of terrain? I'm also going to Pillaton for which I understand I need Rock pegs? Would I be able to use the same for both? Or am I going to start a collection of Pegs?
Please help me!
Thanks

...preferrably a claw hammer, or a very substantial peg extractor, crowbar etc., to remove them!
Earlier in the year I actually bent a rock peg before I managed to "dig" it out. I had wondered about the numerous quite deep "potholes" on an otherwise level site.
I have a peg question. We're off to Fort Widley in October (our 1st DA meet ever) I know it's up on a hill in Portsmouth so could be quite windy. I've seen people mention deltas and wondering if it's worth getting some. If so which ones are best (had a look on their website and there's a few to choose from) also do I just get them to use on the guys or do I use them everywhere that I'd use a peg?
deltas are a great peg as to which one is hard to say the plastic are fine in normal to firm ground the stainless ones are better for harder ground and if you already have rock pegs then go for the ones designed to take them.also they are good for packing.you will only need the deltas for your main guy lines.
the stainless steel deltas are the best of the standard deltas but do run a little bit expensive if you need a lot, the standard plastic deltas are fine
I have a selection of both types to cover most situations
I have bought a Vango Columbia 600 tent and was wondering if the pegs supplied with it will be substantial? We are giving it a test run this weekend, just for a few nights, but the forecast for our area is quite breezy, should i be investing in some other pegs?
If they are just the thin wire pegs with the ends bent over as supplied with most cheaper tents, I would get a set of rock pegs as linked to above, 20 for £9 is reasonable value.
So far, the 4 packs of 23cm "Ground Hogs" (also called Rock Pegs) I bought from Halfords at 3.99 GBP for 8, have worked for me in both soft, and hard ground.
I have not used the ones that came with my Outwell tent.

Then I bought a tent.
