Can't see the point of a layer under an airbed as it gets cold from the air around it - although it might help avoid a puncture. Its more important to place the barrier between the airbed and yourself. We use a fleecy mattress cover from Wilkos for this - nice and cosy with the sleeping bag and acts as a sheet too...

Half true, but the cold ground will draw the heat away far more than the surrounding air, it's best and warmest to insulate both sides.
What a damn good idea that is! I have some new underlay backed carpet that is stuck in the loaft.. it would probably do the same job...thanks for the tip.
Well done Paul, i have used this underlay on the bed boards on my FC. stops condensation under the mattress and provides a bit more padding as well. I use it under the bed pods in the tent to stop stones etc piercing the sig then another piece inside to give warmth and comfort underfoot. its great stuff !
in our cupboard upstairs we've got a big roll of the dear underlay stuff for laminate , the green stuff , i said to hubby a few weeks ago we should take this camping and use it under the beds , he said , nah stupid idea , i showed him this thread and pics yesterday and he said ! oh what a good idea
On a serious point-- we know how cold it can get and we have just been awa y with freinds who's kids slept in their own pup tent, as they put the tent up I noticed my freinds hubby put down a -silver survival blanket thingy- he said you can pick them up from Tesco and others for about 50p.........maybe that would be better. cheers gary
