I've been reading posts on self-inflating mats (SIMs) and especially this thread
I currently use a couple of 4mm ordinary sleeping mats but I'm toying with the idea of something more comfortable. I haven't been impressed with any of the airbeds I've tried nor with a 'shortie' cheap SIM from Millets.
I am looking for a full length (I'm 5' 10" tall and like to sleep stretched out) single-width 'self-inflating' foam-filled mat that is hardwearing and long-lasting, rolls away small but which doesn't need to insulate against sub-zero temperatures. What would y'all recommend?
Well, I got mine at Costco and couldn't tell you what make it is - But the kids have utwell ones that they find very good ( you probably wouldn't want the exact ones they have - All pink and flowery).
I find them much better than airbeds, and much comfier than the 'foam' sleeping mats like i used for DofE. Good luck in finding one to suit.

I'm impressed with the Dozer we've bought our daughter. Long story, but despite the fact that we have 2 Thermarest Basecamps she qualified for a new one. Anyway she swapped with me when we went away last week, and I have to say the extra 2.5cm makes a big difference, and the pack size is the same, if not a bit smaller. The foam mats the kids have for Scout Camps are bulkier if anything,
I must say though, I like the look of the Human Comfort 10cm with memory foam topper!
I have been using the cheapo 50mm one from lidl and find it soooo much better than an airbed my only problem with it is they are slightly slippy. When the costco one is back in stock will try them.

We have some fleecy sleeping bag liners (Aldi I think) which we slip over our SIMs, then the mats don't move and the sleeping bags won't slide off during the night.
We have a Vango double SIM which on the carry bag says that it is 7cm thick. It never gets to this thickness, probably more like half of this and trying to blow some extra air in to it is a bit of a bugger.
Any suggestions, before I invest in something new and shiney ready for next year - I do like the look of the Human Comfort one ....

Has anyone tried the Obelink 10cm mat?
Yes, I have one and it's brilliant. It doesn't slide about and actually seems thicker than the 10cm. The r value is 11 which is the highest I've seen anywhere (warmth rating). Well put together, even the bag it comes in is well made. For comfort I found it better to let a little air out rather than adding a few puffs of air. Mind you, it isn't light and it does take up room but I no longer need to take lots of layers for underneath. Just a sleeping bag and the Nomad is enough.
It also isn't as expensive as other 10cm mats. The Nomad brand seemed very popular with the Dutch on our recent holiday to France and Germany.
I'd give it 5 stars.

hlk01, is this the one you have? Do you know how much the delivery is? Like the extra wide one too but showing out of stock at the moment. Obelink look good value with our stronger £ at present.

Yes, that's the one. I wanted the EW but was told they were out of stock for the rest of the year so ordered the standard one. The EW came in stock about a week later. ight be worth emailing if you really want EW. OH gave it a big thumbs up too. before i bought this I tried a Costco 5cm, 2 x Costco 5cm's one on top of each other and an Airic. This is something else. When you first open it up and undo the valves it sounds like a jet engine whilst it inflates. LOL, my Oh said when he first saw it , "that's not a SIM it's an airbed".
As I said earlier, it's not slippy at all. You can add extra puffs , as per the instructions, but I found it much more comfortable to lie on it and let a bit of air out.
