We are looking to buy one of these to hopefully take to france with us next year does anyone have any advice on what to look for or any good ones around at the moment many thanks in advance xxx louise xx
We have had electric coolboxes and now have a table top fridge, much prefer the fridge as I didn't like having to take everything out to get at the things at the bottom of the coolbox, the fridge has a small freezer so I can freeze ice blocks and use them in a soft cooler bag at the beginning of our trip when we have done a weeks shop and everything won't fit in the fridge, we mainly use it for drinks and have all the meat etc in the fridge. Picked one up off ebay for around £35.
Some have better insulation or are just more efficient. Check how cold the interior gets compared to outside (ambient) temperature, France can get hot.
I originally had a electric coolbox (be aware these only drop the temperature compared to the outside and are not true fridges) On hot days although its cooler than outside its still not fridge temp so things will still go off quicker than normal. Also I found at night the constant noise from the fan was annoying so i would end up swapping out freezer blocks from the shop at night to enable me to turn it off. If you can afford and find one go for a true fridge instead.
