We have a 3 yr old son and the only child specific things we have are a Ready Bed which we were given (brand new!) which he loves and also a folding chair, which cost £5 from Wilkos. It's really sturdy, he loves the built in cup holder and I think it's safer for him than climbing on to a full sized version and possibly tumbling over in it. Other than that, we neither have, nor anticipate getting anything else specifically for him. Not that I can think of anyway!

We are going away at October half term and I would say there's a market actually for 'non trendy' childrens' stuff to keep them warm! I don't want to pay a premium for 'cute' thermals in Millets - plain ones will do! Kids seem to get a bit missed out for plain waterproofs too - you can get all in one suits for babies and separates for adults, but my very tall 10 year old daughter is too slender for small sized adult ones.
I think for summer camping, there's little kit that needs to be deliberately bought for a child, but for stuff to keep them warm and dry it is a little harder - the gear that is available is at premium prices which i am not prepared to pay for something she will have grown out of by easter!
I'd second that completely. The trouble I've had finding waterproof trousers to fit my 5 year old daughter! Thermals too. If anyone knows any reasonably priced shops for childrens outdoor and waterproofs I'd be very grateful.
Mountain warehouse does a good selection of kids clothing and are reasonable. They are on the high street and on the web. http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/.
