We have a Karrite roofbox which we have been pleased with. Apparently they are the Thule economy range.

Yep, Thule Atlantis 780 for me as well. Really quick to put on and take off.

another vote for the thule atlantis.

we got ours from www.roofbox.co.uk a few years back, and its still going strong.

if you go on the thule website, theres a feature that allows you to pick your car and even change the colour and find the box to fit

consider what features you want, eg its a darn site easier to install a box that has a lid that opens both sides. also some of the cheaper ones do requrie a set of spanners to fit, and can be fiddly. the thules have a hand dial/knob to fit.

I can put our atlantis on in 5 mins (inc the bars)

my sister has a budget box and it take about 25 mins to do the lot with a bit of swearing in the mix also!

thule are very good but you pay for it have a karrite(past 3 years)does take about 10 to 15 mins to put on but how often do you do it?also once box is fitted to bars it is far easier to remove the whole thing including the bars.

I am hanging in the hope that Aldi will have one on offer again, last year they were doing a RoofBox for £80 it was a Montblanc but badged with the Aldi Auto-Xs 320 brand.

i have a farad 680l roof box that i bought direct from italy. it was the largest available and cheaper than the thule equivalent or the other make roofbox.co.uk had. they also sell them on ebay:

http://www.faradworld.com/english/farad-roof-boxes/farad-roofbox-f3-680l.html

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FARAD-SKY-ROOF-BOX-210x100x44-680-L-BIGGEST-ONE-/230534581834?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35acee8e4a

you need to check the length of the box, that it isn't too long for the car roof and the width, incase you want to get anything else on the roof, like bikes.
I have also purchased from roofbox in the past and they are a good company to deal with. you get 5% discount though ukcampsite too.

Don't mess about - Thule Atlantis. Matched with the Aero Bars.

As jasie said, go on their site and match the box to your car. Bought mine from roofbox.co.uk.

Whatever you get I would make sure it opens from both sides.
We had a Karrite and it was awkward to get to the fixings on the hinge side.

Avoid central locking, two independant locks are better.  Roofbox.co.uk are a good company to deal with.

thats a good point about the farad one, it is so long, when you have stuff in it, you need one person to hold the front down, while you hold the back down and lock it as it only has one central lock. i got a good deal on it though as it was a second, due to having a few scratches on top.
