the really cheap plugs that fit into the lighter sockets can overheat and melt ,we've changed all ours (2 electric peltier ones and a 3 way fridge ) for 16 amp versions which dont even get warm in use.
unfortunately companies stint on quality and prefer profits most are not fit for anything but occasional use ,wires in some cables are horrifyingly thin and the plugs only fit for the bin
most sellers haven't a clue or cannot be bothered to tell you the ampage of their plugs or cables but with at least 4 amps going through to your fridge there is a safety issue ,one of our fridges runs on 7 amps which heats up even the better over the counter cables thus all mine were upgraded for peace of mind
ask the seller of whatever cable you decide on what amps its designed to carry ,if he doesnt know then he shouldnt be selling them

i fitted 10 amp fuses to be even safer
ofcourse its immaterial if the wiring inside the cooler has been stinted on
