Hey everyone,

I've been practising setting up my stove tonight and Camping Gaz. I was screwing on my bottle to the regulator and it started spraying out gas, I screwed it on tight and it stopped but now am worried. I wanted to test it but obviously am scared to now. All the jubilee clips etc are attached and it seemed to spray stuff out as I screwed it on. Is this normal?! Please give me advice asap. I don't want to test it any further until I know it'll be safe.

That happens when I screw on the regulator, I think it is normal. Try to keep the cylinder vertical and try to screw the regulator on as quickly as possible. Only screw on the regulator in the open air.

its quite normal. just a tip if you unscrew the regulator and it doesnt shut off at the bottle just lightly poke the silver ball bearing in the bottle it as been known for them to stick. its very rare for it to happen  though . but be prepared a biro works fine very quick in -out. always keeep the screw in cap it helps keep the thread clean. also should seal the bottle as well. cheers al;an.

When you say gas is spraying out do you mean gas vapour or liquid?

If it is vapour then you are OK, a bit usually leaks out as the valve is screwed into place, do it as quickly as you can to minimise the amount

and don't over tighten the valve as it is sealed with a rubber O ring or washer which doesn't need much pressure to make a gas tight seal, over tightening may damage the threads or seal.

If you are getting liquid gas from the bottle (not good) you must be holding the gas bottle at an angle, just have the bottle level and screw the valve not the bottle.

Either way let the gas leak clear before lighting the stove for obvious reasons.

If unsure get it checked out at a dealer I'm sure they will gladly sell you a new valve

regards Rob
