Do you think that it is acceptable to go camping in this month with a Coleman Hampton Double sleeping bag? I hope to have EHU with a small fan heater, hot water bottles and have a thermarest SIM? Will have my thermals, fleece and extra duvet/throw. Will be sensible with hot meals and drinks at bed time etc. My tent is a Quechua Sec III. Was keen to try it but a bit apprehensive now. Any advice would be helpful.
I've got the double coleman hudson which is a 2 season sleeping bag (i think the hampton is as well?) - it's good in the spring, but i also put a quilt over the top as well
Just bought 2 outwell camper lux ones and zipped them together - they are a lot thicker and warmer
Camping on Wednesday so the OH can use the hudson, I'll let you know if he freezes!
Going to go tomorrow. Thanks for the advice, just needed a wee bit reassurance. Found some bits of spare carpet that I had kept and might put that down in the tent as well to help with the cold. This will be my first trip with EHU too. So should be allright. Let you know how I get on. Thanks again.
i would take a duvet as well. used my hampton double a few years ago in october with a duvet underneathand on top! wear two pairs of socks, it makes all the difference!
------------- the orchard in may,
rosewall in july
blackberry wood in august
I've a nearly 30 year old Black's 3 season job that is getting tired but always work on principle that the more that's between you and the ground, the warmer you'll be. Deffo agree with double socks and remember to keep your head covered. I'm camping in Kielder w/e 27 Nov - it'll be interesting!
Thanks everyone! Got on just fine this week. Didn't do the EHU (perhaps next time). Had my thermals, hat, layers, hot drinks and wee hand warmers lol . I loved it. My sleeping bag and everything else kept me warm. I did have spare duvet just incase but dog claimed that. Going in November again.
