I hate to be a "harbinger of doom" but heres a very serious warning about pressure lamps. Some years ago, a girl in my scout group was using hair spray too close to a Tilley lamp. The vapour ignited and she inhaled the flames and sadly died. Tilley/pressure type lamps give a fantastic light but need to be used with EXTREME care

Sorry but no different to gas stove issues. In general pressure lamps, especially paraffin ones are safe, so long as one takes appropriate naked flame care. The same issue could apply to gas fridges, stoves, cooking fires. IMHO, since the hair spray is probably butane pressurised, I would consider it far more dangerous than the Tilley lantern.
We have a Tilley Lamp, its fantastic! I always light it well away from anything flamable - as it can have a mind of its own and flare up so NEVER light it inside or just outside a tent or next to car/windbreak!
They give out fantastic light and heat, and once lit, if handled responsibly, can be a fantastic addition to the evening. We have used ours both inside and outseide the tent (big 6 man) always ensure there is nothing too close as they do get hot (although not underneath ~ but always put on non flamable surface just in case). Plenty of ventilation above and if outside and it is windy do try to shelter it (and ensure it cant be blown/knocked over).
We have found ours excellent, however take precautions, it is a heat and light source which is potentially VERY dangerous if not respected and treated with care. Be safe and enjoy!!
Love my petromax - can be a bit fickle lighting sometimes (over pump and it flares etc and could really do with a good clean/maintenance session on it)
Not only the light but the heat it gave out at the weekend was brilliant.
Do seem to get through some mantels though!
(and also like that every part of it is replaceable, so if something breaks you can always get spares)
We use a Tilley Guardsman (1950s) and a Nier-Feuerhand Hurricane Lamp. We fill the latter with citronella lamp oil to help keep the flying nastys away.

Oh I'd love a Petromax! It's the one bit of kit I really really want but for some reason I just can't seem to take the plunge. I often go into a shop in Chester to have a look at them there.
Every time I see Val's pics the one thing that often stands out is the Petromax!!!
