Hi

This is the one I got- works fine and designed for leisure batteries.  No doubt you'll get cheaper - but it's not always price driven.

Following recommendations from this site I bought the CTEK ZAFIR 90. Its a small charger that you can leave on the battery for months and it will check the voltage drop and charge accordingly.

If you want the best life out of your battery you really do need an 'intelligent' charger, many of which are multi stage chargers. Cheaper chargers do not properly regulate the output voltage. You can manage with these chargers but you will need to keep an eye on the voltage output using a volt meter otherwise your battery will be in trouble. Don't leave these cheaper chargers on for more than an hour without checking the voltage. If it rises to 15 volts, turn the charger off and re-check the battery voltage again in an hour.

Some of the best chargers are made by Sterling, but not cheap I'm afraid.....

Ditto on the Sterling stuff, a lot of the boaters use it, it's very good stuff, & not that expensive, just not cheap.

For a good smart charger that does the high amps too look at the The Ring RSC16 Smart Charge 16 it is an intelligent Lead Acid battery charger with a fully automatic 6 Stage charge process and is suitable for most 12V Lead Acid batteries including GEL, VRLA, Calcium and AGM.

Thats a good question to which I dnt have an answer. I assume that it would charge anything but would just take longer. Not sure if thats the case now???

Have been using the CTEK ZAFIR 90 for a couple of years now, when at home it's permanantley hooked upto my 85ah Platinum Leisure battery, so it's always good to go. the CTEK cost £35 from COSTCO inc vat back then, but some say the Inteligent chargers from Aldi/Lidl etc will do just the same job, and if so are a bargain at around £12.
