hey, Im looking for a portable dvd/tv like the Meos 12.3 Portable Freeview TV + DVD Player are these any good? Or is something better out there? I want it for my daughter for long car journeys and for her to be able to watch when we go camping. Thanks

if its for on the site, you may as well buy a 19" combo thingy (aldi had them in for £99) ok its not 12v, but it will run quite happy on a 300w inverter.

The one aldi had in was DVD, freeview, usb and hdmi, tesco have a similar one too.

I think paying the xtra for a tiny tv that runs on 12 just isnt worth it, or even just use a laptop for watching films.

Don't get caught by the need for an inverter with LCD TV's most have a transformer in the power line and if you check its rating you will find it is in fact 12V. However, to be on the safe side and to regulate the supply you would ideally need a 12V voltage stabiliser lead and then you can run the TV directly from a 12V supply without the need for a power hungry inverter.

The following link will do the trick.

On the portable side of things I was in Aldi in Oxford today and they have small combi TV & DVD units with about a 9" screen for £36.00 if that would do the job ?

This one below is very similar to the one I bought a few years ago on ebay. Never had a problem with it.. 3hrs battery back up, plays on 12v or 230, and has silly little 9bit? games that my grandson adores!

Mine was over £100 back then.

That sounds great at that price 24  I wonder whether the Oxford branch have just got them in as an extra 'special' though, as they're not shown on the main Aldi website. I'm just going to dash to our local Aldi to see whether they've got them in there.

They only had a handful of them in a basket by the tills not with the other items in the main non food section so may well have been extra special as you suggest JK98

Our local Aldi hadn't got any 24 Still I saved myself £30 - I did spend £6 on candles whilst I was in there 24
