Just a quick question :-

I have a Coleman double air bed, the standard kind, but am looking into a bit more comfort.

What would be the best alternative:-

a double thickness air bed, the self inflating kind like the gelert,

or

keep with the coleman and place it on top of two camp beds

any advice glady received

my view (at the moment) is that with the camp beds, then the air bed it will be off the ground, so warmer.

but, i will stand corrected.

bought the kids camp beds last year and they were a great success. Warmer, comfy and you don't here them creaking when they turn over!!

Here's my example of my comfy double airbed:-

The luggage straps keep them from parting.

Then I bought a tent.

I've been like Goldilocks with different camping beds over the years. I love my Intex double height airbed but after one season it's developed a leak. It was £60 so I'm really annoyed about that!

I don't get on with our SI mats, and I suspect I'm too portly for camp beds which are quite narrow. I have a readybed but it's too flimsy and not very stable. I have the old fashioned rubber single airbed and a couple of coleman airbeds too.

What's going to be next...who knows. I'm not buying anything more as I could open a camping shop as it is.

Three years ago we got a couple of "ThermaRest DreamTime XL's" they have been superb for our fortnight camp's in France, they fasten together to form a QueenSize bed, far better than any airbed imho.

Hi! Also looking at a new air bed for this year as only have the ones that came with our first tent - the Halfords family package. They are small, thin and we were dubious about how well they would stand up to reasonable wear also not that comfy and low to the ground, very tempted by the Gelert XL double as it comes in a little bigger than the standard ones at Inflated: 203 x 152 x 23cm.
For extra warmth/comfort, a mattress topper and fitted sheet, cosy!

We have used air beds and camp beds. We found the camp beds cold and uncomfortable, even will a roll out mat and a couple of fleese blankets underneath too. They were handy for storing bags under though. Last year we bought a coleman dual airbed and have to say it was the best nights sleep in all our years camping.  Would love and areobed but sleeping pod not big enough on our tent but others on here say they are really good.
